Recochem has expanded its commitment to and its presence in the DEF market across Canada by acquiring all DEF related assets from Wakefield Canada. The deal will close on August 21, 2015.
Recochem deemed it necessary to invest further to meet the needs of the growing bulk and packaged Diesel Exhaust Fluid market – 130M L in 2014 to 500M L in 2019. This acquisition will strengthen the Blue Network’s infrastructure and Recochem’s position of DEF in Canada – allowing us to service customers better.
Wakefield, a manufacturer and distributor of automotive and heavy-duty oil & lube products, including the Castrol brand – entered the DEF business in 2011 under the H2Blu brand. The H2Blu DEF brand has had significant volume growth, and the company has built a strong distribution infrastructure across Canada. Wakefield has however decided to re-focus their efforts on their core premium lubricants business.
Recochem will integrate the Wakefield assets with the existing Blue Network infrastructure across Canada. These assets include the H2Blu brand, trucks, trailers, tanks and additional capabilities to blend DEF in Canada. Our customers will now benefit from 20 terminals, over 30 metered bulk delivery units and state of the art filling and packaging facilities in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal and St John.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is vital to the operation of modern diesel powered equipment and as the DEF market expands in Canada, Recochem is fully armed to support the demand of bulk and packaged DEF.
Both Wakefield and Recochem will be working closely together until the end of this year to ensure a seamless transition with continued outstanding customer service.
